Pakistan’s National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has successfully energized a 750 MVA transformer at the Rawat substation.

According to a spokesman from the NTDC, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) was having problems with overloading at the 500 kV Rawat station, which was in need of renovation.

The addition of a 750 MVA transformer will help prevent overloading and shutdowns in Islamabad and Chakwal, and will result in the smooth supply of power in Rawalpindi and Islamabad during peak seasons.

The spokesman continued to add that work for the addition of 250 MVA transformers at the 220kV Toba Tek Singh grid station, the 220 kV Ludewala grid station, the 220 kV Samundari Road grid station, and at the 220 kV Grid Station Vehari has also been completed.

The installation of 600 MVA transformer at 500kV Gatti grid is also in progress and will be completed soon.

The 500kV Gatti grid in Faisalabad is an important part of the country’s transmission system and has been facing overloading problems.
