Hitachi ABB to build $230 million transformer centre in Chongqing
Hitachi ABB Power Grids has begun plans to create a global transformer design and manufacturing centre in Chongqing, China.
Phase I of the project, which has an initial investment of around $230 million, will create the world’s advanced transformer manufacturing base and global transformer design center and insulation parts processing center in Chongqing.
“The global transformer design center that will be completed in the future is the only transformer design center above 500kV currently laid out by Hitachi ABB Power Grid in China.” Speaking of the first phase of the project’s highlight global transformer design center, Hitachi ABB Power Grid project engineer said,
“The design center will represent Hitachi ABB Power Grid’s leading global technology level, with the help of our global unified transformer design platform and standards, to provide customers with customized products and technical solutions and other support, while also supporting our design in other countries and technical service needs in other countries.”
As one of the world’s largest transformer manufacturing bases of Hitachi ABB Power Grid, Chongqing ABB Transformer Co., Ltd. has an annual production capacity of more than 50,000 MVA. the base has advanced production and testing equipment, the application of the world’s advanced technology, products have been exported to Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, the United States, Chile and other 19 overseas markets.
In the future, the project will actively introduce upstream and downstream manufacturers in the industry chain, improve the transformer industry chain in Chongqing, promote the upgrading of related industries in Chongqing, and form a supporting system for transformer production in the country and the world with Chongqing as the centre.
