Manila Electric inaugurates new substation in Lancaster New City
Manila Electric Co. has inaugurated a new substation that will help accommodate the increasing electricity requirements of Lancaster New City in General Trias, Cavite and nearby communities.
The 115kV-34.5kV outdoor substation in Lancaster New City is a state-of-the-art facility that can function unmanned. It is situated on a 5,400-square meter lot donated by Pro-Friends, and is equipped with supervisory control and data acquisition as well as devices and remotely-controlled distribution feeders and line re-closers.
Developed in partnership with property developer Property Company of Friends Inc., the new substation will also provide switching flexibility in case of outages, aside from addressing critical loading of Cavite power transformers.
“This new facility is a testament to Meralco’s relentless pursuit to continuously improve our service to customers through the use of innovative technology. Likewise, this project will improve the system reliability and will provide better flexibility during contingencies. We thank Pro-Friends for their partnership in this endeavor aimed to support residents of Lancaster New City, as well as Caviteños in nearby cities and municipalities,” said Meralco deputy chief executive Ray Espinosa.
This will translate into fewer and shorter duration power interruptions, benefitting residential, commercial and industrial electricity customers, most especially those in Lancaster New City and the Cavite Economic Zone.
“Meralco and Pro-friends are similar in the sense that service excellence is one of the key pillars that drive our enterprises to go the extra mile. This substation will fulfill energy requirements primarily of Lancaster New City and also cater to nearby communities surrounding LNC,” said Pro-Friends president Guillermo Choa.
